JAMES 
BURNELL

James Burnell joined The Pontoon & Dock Company back in 2016. With the vision to start P&D Marine Services in 2018/19. James saw the need to have a dedicated business that could be the

‘go-to’ organisation for all matters relating to boatyards.

 

James has worked in the marine industry for well over 20 years. At both an operational and management/ supervisory level. His previous experience includes a large marina group as well as independent organisations. This included an extensive focus on boatyard operations. James is passionate about helping the industry to improve and modernise where required, with a strong mindset on safety. Delivering a high-quality service whilst being able to look at things from the customers' eyes. In fact, he was a customer of Pontoon & Dock!

 

James is a Certified Marina Professional under the Global Marinas Institute scheme. He holds a marine-focused degree the RYA Yachtmaster certification and numerous other related qualifications. James also forms part of the assessor team under the TYHA Gold Anchor scheme. James is a LEEA trained inspector for lifting equipment in various disciplines and often acts as a liaison between the boat yard sector and the lifting industry, as well as advising the HSE and other bodies.  

Both within the industry and outside of it, James is known for giving his time and skills as a volunteer – he even finds time to be a scout leader!
